Attraction Information
Rockingham Castle was built by the famous William the Conqueror, for 450 years Rockingham was a Royal fortress, and since then it has been home to the Watson family, who happily welcome you and yours to explore them and theirs!
It's set in a panoramically beautiful location with views over five counties on a clear day and is surrounded by 12 stunning acres of wonderfully contrasting landscaping.
They have masses of wide open green spaces that the kids are welcome to play and run about on, though they do request that no ball games be played in the formal gardens for the safety of the plants and flowers - otherwise you're welcome to play what you like so feel free to bring your backyard favourites! Kids can also follow the trail of Wentworth the Gallant Guardian of Rockingham Castle as they complete his quiz in the grounds!
This is matched on the inside by the Eye Spy booklet which will help keep kids focussed and interested as they move through the magnificently furnished rooms which are stylistic examples of several key historical periods. Thoughtful exhibitions explain the Castle's history and a new audio visual display will excite your little knights with the concept of the 'Castle Under Siege'!
