Attraction Information
Portsmouth is a very special place for wildlife in Britain. It has many different habitats in a very small area, and at Portsmouth Natural History Museum you can explore them all!
Keep an eye out for the heron stalking its prey and the regal Brent geese coming in to land after their awesome 3000 km flight in from the arctic! You and the family can also learn all about Portsmouth's fascinating geology and take a look in the new exhibition room for your educational fix. The displays are designed to allow visitors a view of the natural world as they could never see it in real life: up close and in depth! So it's a great place to do some extra credit work for school or just to indulge their curiosity if they're into the natural stuff.
Portsmouth Natural History Museum also houses an aquarium and butterfly house plus seasonal events including Reptile and Amphibian Weekends!
Their beautiful butterflies fly from May to September and fish naturally swim all year round. Also look out for their cool axolotls, Ebony and Ivory and the other live insects on display which now include a display on beekeeping too.
