Poldark Mine
Poldark Tin Mine is one of Cornwall's most important heritage sites and contains what are believed to be the oldest complete mine workings in Great Britain that are open to the public.
The mine tour was fascinating and we were all spelllbound as the guide told us all about mining and the conditions facing miners during their time working underground. THe children looked shocked when they found out kids aged 7 worked in the mines! There's a museum with a film about tin mining as well, remote control boats (for a pound) - giant chess set by the cafe (which did very good cornish pasties) and a panning for gems area.
All in all a good couple of hours, which if you are on holiday in cornwall, i would recommend as the kids learn about the history of the area while also having fun.
