Philiphaugh Salmon Viewing Centre

Children love the interactive displays, which are both fun and educational.

There are video games, crawling spaces where you can pretend to be a salmon fry, the head of an extinct salmon, life size bean bag fish and loads of paintings, images and text.

You can watch live salmon via underwater cameras on the large plasma screen, or video extracts from throughout the year.

A short walk from the centre brings you to the Cauld where you can see salmon battling the waters to reach their spawning ground. It's an amazing sight! August to November are the best times of year to see mature salmon leaping right out of the water, but fish can be viewed underwater at any time of the year from the salmon centre cameras.

There is also a brass rubbing nature trail, fully restored working waterwheel, and wildlife such as otters, red squirrel, roe deer, badgers, bats, owls, heron and foxes.
