Pendle Witches Mystery Trail
Can you find the answers to the clues which will solve the Pendle Witches Mystery Treasure Trail?
The answers to the clues are located on existing monuments, buildings and structures: some are easy to find, some are a little bit trickier! Children love competing to solve the clues and don't even realise they are learning about the area and getting some exercise!
Our Trails are pre-written and based on permanent features so all you need to do is purchase a Trail from our website www.treasuretrails.co.uk and you are ready to go with everything you need including directions and clues.
After you have completed the Trail you can enter your answer online to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize.
The Trail starts in the park outside the Pendle Heritage Centre in Barrowford and explores the picturesque villages of Downham, Newchurch and Barley in the shadow of Pendle Hill which are steeped in history. Along the way you will see stunning countryside, lovely villages with streams to paddle in and witches galore!
This is a driving and walking Trail and is one of many trails around Lancashire, many of which are walking Trails in one location: see our website below for a full list. You can choose to solve a mystery, go on a treasure hunt or crack the code to save the world in a spy mission.
Shortlisted for the Best Visitor Experience award at the 2011 Lancashire Tourism Awards.
There are many cafes and pubs along the Pendle Witches Trail route giving you lots of choice for eating and drinking.
There are public toilets along the route. The toilets at Downham include disabled and baby changing facilities and are housed in a former pig sty!
The Pende Witches Trail starts in Barrowford at the Pendle Heritage Centre which is signposted from junction 13 of the M65. Park in the car park across the road from the Centre. Satnav BB9 6JQ. The Trail also includes instructions for starting the Trail at either Downham, Newchurch or Barley.
This Trail takes around three hours to complete and can be downloaded and printed at home or ordered as a booklet to be posted from the Treasure Trails website. Going on holiday? Why not order a couple of Trails before you go? You'll have lots of fun and will see a lot more of the local area. Most of our Trails are suitable for wheelchairs; please check our website for more details. Unfortunately the Pendle Witches Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs due a number of steps and uneven footpaths.
If you've had fun on your family day out to Pendle Witches Mystery Trail, tell us about it your visit, so other people will know it's a great place to go as well.
