Pease Dean Wildlife Reserve

Situated nine miles south-east of Dunbar, Pease Dean is one of the few areas in this region where native woodland can still be found and as such is the spot for your little adventurers to get out in the elements and amongst the trees. The wet, sheltered deans support unusual moss and liverwort species so it's worth looking all around you as you explore. There are numerous intriguing looking paths around the reserve to tempt you, including the end of the well known Southern Upland Way. Wild and free as it may appear, the area is actually quite excitingly perilous and precarious and so carries certain rules for visitors. For your family's safety, and so as not to disturb wildlife, you must keep to paths wherever possible and keep the family hound under close control if he's come along. Never attempt to cross the railway line, and the steepest slopes of the dean are dangerous and should be avoided. Take care crossing the narrow road bridge too!
