Norton Priory Museum and Gardens
Norton Priory Museum and Gardens is a brilliant place to explore and enjoy as a family.
Get up close with nature in the Walled Garden, with quizzes and binoculars for budding nature detectives. Marvel at the giant St Christopher statue and get hands on in the gallery. Step into the past with dressing up and special story bags with lots of games and toys. Get off the paths and run off some steam exploring the woodland and sculpture trail.
Every Bank holiday and Monday and Tuesday of the school holidays you can get stuck in to activities just for kids, from den building to kite making. Contact directly for dates and details.
The refectory cafe at Norton Priory is a great place for a home made lunch or afternoon treat. New for 2010 will be the tea room at the Walled Garden where you can go for drinks and cake! There are plenty of picnic tables at the museum and walled garden if you want to bring your own lunch.
All food is made to order so special requests can usually be catered for.
Norton Priory has two gift shops where you can buy something for every budget. The shops sell pocket money favourites, pencil case essentials as well as high quality children's toys. You can also buy a variety of plants and produce from the gardens depending on availability.
Disabled toilets can be found at the Museum along with baby changing facilities.
We have milk-warming facilities in the cafe at the Museum.
Norton Priory Museum & Gardens is less than 30 minutes by car from Chester, Liverpool and Manchester. From M56, Junction 11, turn for Warrington and follow Norton Priory signs. From all other routes follow the "All other Runcorn Traffic" and then the Norton Priory signs. DO NOT USE OUR POSTCODE WITH SAT NAV! For SatNav use Norton Priory Road address (our postcode will get you lost!).
When visiting Norton Priory wellies are a good idea on rainy days and don't forget your coat! You can bring your dog with you if you want. Norton Priory is buggy friendly and there is only one set of stairs where you need to be careful. The Museum & Gardens are wheelchair accessible apart from one small area on the historic ruins. Large print guides available from reception.
