About National Roman Legion Museum

If you and your family love the Romans then the National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon is for you. We've got hundreds of things that belonged to the Romans in the Museum: try looking for the children's teeth or the soldier's helmet. We've got a soldier's bedroom made to look how it would have done 2,000 years ago, complete with metal armour for kids to try on. At weekends you can play in our ‘Family Fun Area' with dressing up, games and our infamous ‘latrine game'. We've got trails to do round the Museum and a Family Guide to the Gallery to help answer any tricky questions. The Museum Garden offers a place for families to relax and enjoy a pleasant atmosphere. Throughout the year we've got plenty of events and activities going on, from hands-on crafts like mosaics to watching Gladiator fights to cooking: there's something for all the family to get involved with and we love parents who want to have a go at making things as well! Outside of the Museum there are the ruins of the Fortress Baths, Amphitheatre and Barracks – the Amphitheatre is the most complete one in Britain. And our friendly staff will be happy to help answer any questions about the Romans or Caerleon, whether for school projects or just out of curiosity.
