Attraction Information
Museum of Cambridge, formerly the Folk Museum, is a local social history museum housed in the former White Horse Inn, a half-timber-framed building dating back to the early 17th century.
The wonderful and varied collections are displayed in nine room settings including the bar, the kitchen, the fens and folklore room and the playroom. Each room is filled with intriguing objects, some dating back to the 1600s, as well as familiar household items.
The Museum offers a range of activities for families with children of all ages. Young children are encouraged to explore the permanent collection with our fun activity filled ‘busy boxes' in hand. The Museum attic playroom also contains a toy chest with fun traditional games. On most Fridays we offer an ever-changing ‘Fab Family Friday' event geared towards Under 5s in the attic space.
During the half term holidays, older kids can partake in themed activity trails (available during all opening hours) as well a range of bookable workshops and activities, such as model making and hands-on crafts. The events on offer change with the season, so please check our website through the link or call us for up to date details.
