Montrose Beach
Montrose Beach
Golden sands stretch for three miles from Montrose to the North Esk River, with stunning views south to Scurdieness lighthouse.
Montrose is a family beach with a promenade, car parking and cafes at the town end, and the Seafront Splash play area for children with white sands, pools, trampolines, pitch and putt and an ice cream parlour.
A visit to Montrose Basin is well worth it: this 3 swuare mile wildlife sanctuary attracts 50,000 migratory birds each year including pink footed geese, wild whooper swans, osprey, avocets and lesser yellowlegs. You can watch them all through high powered telescopes in the visitor centre (open April to October) and perhaps also catch sight of seals and otters too.
If you've had fun on your family day out to Montrose Beach, tell us about it your visit, so other people will know it's a great place to go as well.
