Milton Keynes Museum

"what are we doing today?"

Milton Keynes Museum is located in the peaceful surroundings of Stacey Hill Farm, built early in the Victorian era as a model farm.

It is located on the outskirts of Wolverton, one of the UK's original "railway towns". Today the buildings overlook the "new city" of Milton Keynes but when they were built they were in the middle of the countryside.

The Museum's local social history collections allow visitors to experience the areas domestic, industrial, agricultural and transport heritage. Housed in a beautiful Victorian Farmstead, our large and constantly changing selection of displays have something for all the family.

Visit the street of period shops; Victorian room settings; working period telephones and switchboards; Hall of Transport; try your hand at brass rubbing, listen to an air raid in the museum's Anderson Shelter or make toast the old fashioned way in our working period kitchen.

"i'm hungry"

Milton Keynes Museum's Granary Tea Room provides home-cooked light refreshments, including sandwiches and home made cakes. There is an outside picnic area with tables and chairs, and plenty of grassy space.

healthy food

"Can I have one of those?"

"i need a wee"

Toilet facilities are available in the shop, by the period kitchen and in the tearoom. Disabled facilities are available in the shop and tearoom. Baby changing facilities are available in the tearoom.

"are we there yet?"

From the M1 motorway (northbound) leave at Junction 14 and follow signs for central Milton Keynes and then Northern Milton Keynes (occasionally signed as Wolverton or Stony Stratford). When on Milton Keynes Grid Road H3/Monks Way, proceed westwards to Stacey Bushes and then follow the Brown Museum Signs. From the West of England approach Milton Keynes on the A422. At Old Stratford take the A5 dual carriageway into Milton Keynes, but leave at the first junction. Then follow the Brown Museum Signs. From the East of England approach Milton Keynes on the A422 (known in Milton Keynes as H3/Monks Way) follow the road through Milton Keynes until you see the Museum's Brown Cart Signs. Wolverton Station is a 15 minute walk away, and a number of buses stop in Wolverton.
