Today, the Merchant's House Museum is the largest and finest surviving example of a late 16th and early 17th century residence in Plymouth.
The house is divided into 7 rooms, each one with its own central theme and the displays examine aspects of Plymouth'ÂÂÂÂÂÂs past history, from transport and trade to the effects of the Second World War.
Please note: no toilet facilities.
The social history of a bygone age is revealed with a contrast between the rich and poor, whilst the Victorian school room reflects the growth of mass education in the last century.

It may be worth checking out Merchant's House Museum's website to see if there are any special events or seasonal fun things to do that may be going on during the day.
We do strongly suggest you contact Merchant's House Museum before you set off on your family day out, just to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices, as there is nothing worse than disappointed kids in the back of your car after a long journey.
Museum currently closed for refurbishment.
