Manchester Spy Treasure Trail
Can you find the answers to the clues which will solve the Manchester Spy Treasure Trail?
The answers to the clues are located on existing monuments, buildings and structures: some are easy to find, some are a little bit trickier! Children love competing to solve the clues and don't even realise they are learning about the area and getting some exercise!
Our Trails are pre-written and based on permanent features so all you need to do is purchase a Trail from our website www.treasuretrails.co.uk and you are ready to go with everything you need including directions and clues.
After you have completed the Trail you can enter your answer online to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize.
The Trail starts outside the Town Hall in Manchester city centre and explores 2,000 years of the city's history. Along the way it follows the canal into the Castlefield area, goes through a Roman gate and passes the Museum of Science and Industry which tells the story of the world's first industrial city: admission is free.
This is one of many trails around Lancashire and Greater Manchester: see our website below for a full list. You can choose to solve a mystery, go on a treasure hunt or crack the code to save the world in a spy mission.
Shortlisted for the Best Visitor Experience award at the 2011 Lancashire Tourism Awards.
There are many cafes and pubs along the Manchester Spy Trail route giving you lots of choice for eating and drinking.
There are public toilets along the route.
The Manchester Spy Trail starts outside the Town Hall in Albert Square which is signposted throughout the city. It is within easy walking distance of both Piccadilly and Victoria railway stations and St Peter’s Square Metrolink station.
This Trail takes around two hours to complete and can be downloaded and printed at home or ordered as a booklet to be posted from the Treasure Trails website. Going on holiday? Why not order a couple of Trails before you go? You'll have lots of fun and will see a lot more of the local area. Wherever possible we make our Trails pushchair friendly. Please see our website for details on individual Trails. The Manchester Spy Trail is largely on the city's pavements but there are also stretches on canal towpaths and the cobbled streets around Castlefield. It is suitable for pushchairs and energetic wheelchair users.
