Machrihanish Bay
About Machrihanish Bay
Along the western coast of most of Kintyre runs a long shingle beach broken by the occasional rocky outcrop, but at Machrihanish Bay there's a gentle three mile curve of soft sand that is popular with swimmers, surfers and kite-surfers. The surf is best at Westport, an area awarded several prizes for the quality of its sand and water. You can see seals sunning themselves o the rocks, and wild goats wandering around the rocky crags on the Gauldrons area of the beach. The Machrihanish Seabird and Wildlife Observatory on the western tip. The postcode given is for satnav to get you close but you should please plan your exact journey independently.
