Machrihanish Bay
Along the western coast of most of Kintyre runs a long shingle beach broken by the occasional rocky outcrop, but at Machrihanish Bay there's a gentle three mile curve of soft sand that is popular with swimmers, surfers and kite-surfers.

The surf is best at Westport, an area awarded several prizes for the quality of its sand and water.
You can see seals sunning themselves o the rocks, and wild goats wandering around the rocky crags on the Gauldrons area of the beach. The Machrihanish Seabird and Wildlife Observatory on the western tip.
