"what are we doing today?"

London Zoo opened in 1828 and was the World's first scientific zoo.

It is owned by the Zoological Society of London who carries out conservtion projects in over 30 countries around the world. 2006 sees the opening of 2 new exhibits.

"Into Africa" allows you to come eye to eye with some of Africa's most unusual animals including Giraffes, Zebras and African hunting dogs and has a fantastic viewing platform which allows you to get right up to the level of the Giraffes.

The Butterfly Paradise allows you to have the chance to enjoy the beauty of butterflies as they fly around you and learn about their lifecycles and habitats.

There is also "Meet the Monkeys" an exciting monkey walk.

London Zoo has a number of historical listed buildings on site such as the famous Clock Tower and Mapping Terraces (Bear Mountain) designed by Mitchell and Joass.

With over 12,000 animals for you to see, London Zoo is a great day out for all.

Oasis Cafe
Located on Barclay Court the Oasis Cafe and Coffee Bar is open all year round serving a wide range of freshly prepared hot meals, baguettes, cakes and pastries, as well as a children's 'pick and mix' lunch box.

With modern facilities and seating for over 300 the Oasis Cafe makes for a welcome rest on your adventure at London Zoo.

Oasis Picnic Shop
Just across the court from the main cafe is the Oasis Picnic Shop, open during the summer season and on weekends serving baguettes, salads, ice creams, coffees and a wide range of childrens treats such as candyfloss and popcorn - the perfect place to stop in for a light snack or coffee on the go.

Fish and chips
Situated next to the BUGS exhibit is the Fish and Chips kiosk. Serving freshly battered Hoki from sustainable fish sources, this traditional English favourite is available during the summer and on the weekends except for during the months of December and January.

Aquarium kiosk
Next door to the aquarium, this kiosk is open all year round and serves as a great place to get that cup of coffee or treat that you deserve.

Freshly prepared hot meals, Baguettes, Salads and Children's "pick and mix" lunch box.

"Can I have one of those?"

A wide range of souvenirs as well as childrens gifts, clothing & accessories, donations, educational items and crafts. Fair Trade and recycled items, Jewellery and Watches, Experiences, Membership, Party shop, prints & cards, Schleich animal models, soft toys, collecatable sculptures - or shop online

ZSL London Zoo seeks to provide equal opportunity for all to enjoy the animal exhibits and visitor faciltiies. 6 disabled parking bays near the Zoo entrance. Oppoosite BUGS and in the Children's Zoo. Women only; near the African Aviary and Zoo entrance

Babies are welcome at the zoo and every effort is made to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

"are we there yet?"

From Camden Town Station (15 minute walk) Camden Town is the nearest tube station to London Zoo with its Northern Line connection.

• Exit the station on the right-hand side and walk along Parkway
• Continue walking up Parkway for about 6 minutes until you reach Prince Albert Road
• Turn right into Prince Albert Road and continue for about five minutes until you reach the traffic-light controlled pedestrian crossing
• Cross left here and walk over the Regent's Canal footbridge
• Turn right and London Zoo is then 200 metres up the road on the left-hand side. Alternatively, London Zoo visitors can use Regent's Park Tube station (Bakerloo Line) or Baker Street Station (Jubilee, Bakerloo & Metropolitan lines):

The attraction accommodates pushchairs and wheelchairs in the main. Remember your suncream in summer and raincoat in winter.
