About Leeds Castle

Spend a day - or a whole weekend - at Leeds Castle, one of England's most spectacular historic estates. Set on its own island in a lake in the heart of the Kent countryside, this 900-year-old castle was home to six medieval queens, including Catherine of Aragon, and today it offers one of the most complete family day out experiences in the South East. With 500 acres of grounds to explore and everything from adventure playgrounds and a famous maze to daily falconry displays and a new 1930s castle interior, there's enough here to fill a full day - and then some.

What's included at Leeds Castle:

  • Explore the castle interior, including new unique displays bringing the 1930s to life - from the furnishings and fashions of the era to the stories of the people who lived and worked here
  • Navigate the famous yew tree maze, crafted from over 2,400 trees, and find your way out through the mysterious underground grotto - one of the most memorable family challenges in Kent
  • Let the kids loose across three adventure playgrounds: the Knights' Stronghold (zip wires, climbing walls, and cargo nets), the Squires' Courtyard, and a third play area for younger children
  • Watch daily falconry displays featuring eagles, hawks, and owls soaring in thrilling demonstrations of power and skill
  • Play a round of 12-hole adventure mini golf, complete with its own miniature castle
  • Hop aboard the land train for a tour of the estate - perfect for younger children or anyone who wants to take in the grounds without the walking
  • Explore woodland walks with views across the castle, the lake, and the surrounding Kent countryside
  • Visit the Go Ape high ropes course on-site (separate booking required) for an added adrenaline hit for older children and adults

Explore the grounds and the gardens and lose yourself in the wonderful maze and make your way out through the underground grotto. Love animals? Don’t miss the Falconry for your chance to see some incredible birds of prey too! Book your tickets for Leeds Castle today!

History That Kids Can Actually Touch

Leeds Castle isn't a "look but don't touch" heritage site. Kids can scramble through the Knights' Stronghold adventure playground, navigate the 2,400-tree maze, watch eagles and hawks swoop overhead at the daily falconry display, and explore a real medieval castle that has housed six medieval queens - including Catherine of Aragon. History has never felt this alive.
