There are more than 800 ancient monuments within a six-mile radius of the village of Kilmartin, Argyll, many of them are are prehistoric.
This extraordinary concentration and diversity of monuments distinguishes the Kilmartin Glen as an area of outstanding archaeological importance. It is one of Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscapes.
Kilmartin House Museum is an award winning world-class centre for archaeology and landscape interpretation established to protect, investigate and interpret this internationally important archaeological landscape and the artefacts that have been found here. At this unique and vibrant centre you can also see ‘The Valley of Ghosts’ audio-visual – a time travelling experience with breath taking imagery and haunting music.
You can also try out a range of hands-on activities, including their popular quern stones and stone axe polisher! There is an on site shop and an award winning cafe.

The Museum is OPEN seven days per week from 10am to 5.30pm 1st March to 31st October.
Winter:
From 31st October our opening times are 11am to 4pm and the Museum and cafe are CLOSED from 23rd December to 1st March.
