A beautiful moated Tudor Mansion, with extensive moated gardens and rare breeds farm.
The House is very much a lived in family home which fact children like.
Its fun not stuffy. All ages find the Gardens a treat from the Pied Piper Topiary, bowl of fruit an snail to the Yew castle with its 'secret' tunnel.
Gardens have lots of surprises waiting to be discovered. Famous for its regular award-winning Time Travel Events.
Home of the frightening Scaresville an Award-winning Halloween Event. Also a working Farm which has Heavy Horses, World's Largest Donkeys, fiercesome-looking horned cattle, horned sheep, goats & fowl. Kentwell is designed for children yet enjoyed by all.
Good food served quickly in the Stableyard Grill (burgers, sausages & Chips etc). Tearoom for cream teas and Ice Creams. Picnic Area Extra catering points open for some special events. Children's Birthday Parties a speciality. Not all catering points are Open every day.
Kentwell serves its own extensively reared non chemically enhanced Rare Breed Meat and wherever possible vegetables and fruit from the garden or supplied locally.
Traditional toys and gifts with a range of Tudor related items. Including Books, Pewter, wooden Toys, Preserves, Toiletries, Sweets & Chocolate and rare breed meat and much more.
Purpose built toilets with facilities for Disabled & baby changing area
Baby changing facilities. We can heat up milk for parents. We ask visitors not to bring buggies into the House.
ROAD Kentwell is in Long Melford, on the A134 near Sudbury on Suffolk/Essex border. Under 1hr from Ipswich, Cambridge, Chelmsford and M11 TRAIN Sudbury Train Station is nearest - approximately 3 miles away BUS Buses do run into the village of Long Melford. Be aware that the drive is 1/4 mile from Kentwell's Gates and its 3/4 mile uphill along Kentwell's delightful Avenue from the main road to the house.
Visit the Kentwell website before you travel. This will tell you what is happening on the day of your intended visit and you can check prices and catering options there. Check the webcam to find out about Kentwell's weather. It is one of the driest spots in England and may miss even quite local rain. Wear suitable footwear for the weather conditions. Check again by visiting the website or by telephone before you set off. Sometimes the House or Gardens may be closed or close early.
