Things To Do

Kenilworth Castle is an English Heritage site that has been at the centre of England's affairs for over 900 years, from a 12th-century medieval fortress to an Elizabethan palace. From its beginnings as a Norman stronghold, founded by Geoffrey De Clinton in 1120, to its grand transformation by Robert Dudley and John Dudley in the 16th century, the castle is packed with stories of royalty, romance, and intrigue. Perfect for Elizabethan England. Not to mention, Kenilworth Castle has seen many improvements from various historical figures. From King Henry II, King Henry IV, King John in the 13th century and Edward III to John of Gaunt, who built Saintlowe Tower and Gaunt's Tower. He also turned the medieval castle into a palace fortress! Although, by the 19th century, the castle was an abandoned ruin, and in the 1930s, it was sold to the industrialist Sir John Siddeley.
