Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre
Jodrell Bank is a fun day out for all the family.
Within the Planet Pavilion you will find our Cafe with outside terrace which offers fantastic views of the Lovell Telescope.
We also have a gift shop and a small exhibition room where you can explore our Universe and learn more about the planets using our model of the Solar System.
How did the Universe begin? What is a black hole? Find all of the answers to the wonders the Universe, listen to the sounds of the Big Bang and explore the invisible Universe using a range of hands on activities in our Space Pavilion!
Test your science knowledge with our fun worksheets or experiment with sound waves using the whispering dishes.
Jodrell bank Discovery Centre cafe is run by the award winning Chef Peter Booth from the Modern Caterer. The food is centred round the British seasons using quality, local ingredients to create simple, everyday dishes. The ethics of our supply chain are paramount and evident in how we operate. Why not treat yourself to one of our delicious homemade cakes.

Visiting By Car: Jodrell Bank Visitor Centre can be found just off the A535 between Holmes Chapel and Alderley Edge, clearly signposted along the nearby roads with brown signs. We are approximately 6 miles from Junction 18 of the M6. Post Code for Sat Nav users: SK11 9DW Visiting by train: The nearest railway station is Goostrey, on the Crewe to Manchester line, approximately 2.5 miles from Jodrell Bank. Train times can be found on Northern Rail's website. Please note to walk from the station: turn right out of the station car park and walk to the church. Turn right immediately past the church. Stay on this lane for approximately 2 miles. At one point the telescope will be on your right and you appear to be walking to the left, this is correct, please do not be tempted to follow the telescope. Eventually, there is a right hand bend and a railway bridge. The entrance drive is just over the railway bridge. Please note this is narrow country lane without pedestrian footpaths. Alderley Edge, Macclesfield, Knutsford and Holmes Chapel are all within a 25 minute taxi ride.
Please prepare for wet weather as some activities feature outside. Picnics will be welcome. Assistance dogs only allowed on site.
