Hertford Museum is a gem of a local history museum in the centre of the pretty county town of Hertford.

At Hertford Museum there are lots to keep children and families occupied! From activity bags and trails for the galleries, to interactive exhibits like our feely objects and play shop, we promise you that you won’t get bored!

We also offer a range of activities and events throughout the year and during the school holidays. Check our website for regular updates on the events programme.

The museum has a beautiful and secluded Jacobean-style Knot garden, ideal for a picnic in good weather. Sorry we do not have a cafe. However, the museum is situated in the centre of Hertford, which has a great selection of family friendly cafes and restaurants to choose from.

Via the A414 Hertford Museum is 10 minutes from the A10. It is also 20 minutes from A1 (M): follow the A602 then the A119 from junction 7 (signposted Stevenage, Ware) or the A414 from junction 4 (signposted Hertford, Hatfield). Both the A10 and the A1(M) are on the M25. There are 8 car parks in Hertford run by East Herts Council.
