Gorgie City Farm
Telephone: 0131 337 4202
Gorgie City Farm, with its animals and gardens, has always been considered as a place to visit, relax and see what is new, and of course with no admission charge, people can call in for short visits just to take in some fresh air even on the most dismal winter's day.
There are opportunities to get really close to the animals if you book a birthday party, a group tour or workshop or a place on our holiday Farmers Helpers workshops or sign up up for the Young Farmers Saturday Club.
For the general visitor we sell feed for poultry & the large stock - this will encourage the latter particularly to come say hello! Do mind your fingers and be warned - the cow has a very long, damp and rough tongue!
Lazier beasts can be spotted in their stys or under piles of hay. Watch out for youngsters in the spring especially. We have a flock of poll dorset sheep which can lamb all year round, 3 breeding sows- so piglets every quarter is not uncommon, pygmy goats which we breed too, a cow â who we plan to have pregnant or suckling most of the year, and a fair few chickens and ducks. Our Pet Lodge houses rabbits and guinea pigs as well as some exotic creatures such as tortoises and chinchillas.
Wibbly Wobbly Weblink
It may be worth checking out Gorgie City Farm's website to see if there are any special events or seasonal fun things to do that may be going on during the day.
We do strongly suggest you contact Gorgie City Farm before you set off on your family day out, just to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices, as there is nothing worse than disappointed kids in the back of your car after a long journey.
