Gloucester Waterways Museum
Gloucester Waterways Museum brings to life the fascinating story of 2,000 miles of waterways and Britain's most inland port.
Kids of all ages will enjoy getting their hands wet and discovering for themselves how canals work. You can navigate a lock, race boats to test out different designs and try your hand at boat building and traditional decoration on one of our computer displays.
Visitors can climb aboard heritage boats in the Waterside Gallery, delve into the fascinating world of Gloucester's Victorian docks and meet the people and wildlife of our wonderful waterways.
An exciting selection of events and workshops runs throughout the year, such as Boater's Craft Demonstrations, and Roses and Castles Painting where visitors can try their hand at traditional canal painting. Up-to-date information can be found over at our website.
Complement your visit with a boat trip along the Gloucester and Sharpness canal. Along the way our skipper will fill you in on the history and present use of the ship canal.
Refreshment can be found in Coots, the adjoining cafe bar. Offers a good range of refreshments and outdoor seating on sunny days.
From pocket money treats and old fashioned sweets to painted canal ware and original prints. Plus an excellent selection of canal books, guides and maps.
