Foxton Locks is a great place to explore for a day out with all the family.

Can you save the beautiful Foxton Locks?
The evil Dr Ponghi has a vile plot to sabotage them. Can you find the code, to disable the device, to foil the plot, to stop the sabotage? As you walk around the locks, tow path and village you have to find the answers to clues. Look around to find the answers on buildings, information boards, signs, statues and plaques.

The Trail takes about three hours to complete and can be downloaded and printed at home, or ordered as a booklet to be posted to you, from the Treasure Trails website.

When walking around the Foxton Locks Spy Mission Trail there are a number of refreshment facilities along the route. There is the Top Lock Coffee Shop at the top of the locks and at the bottom there is a gift shop, Bridge 61 Free House, and the Foxton Locks Inn. In the village of Foxton there is The Black Horse and The Shoulder of Mutton. In the village, behind the village hall is a lovely park and children’s playground which is an ideal picnic spot.

There are toilet facilities at the cafes and pubs on the route.

Park in the Foxton Locks long stay car park on the left side of the Foxton to Gumley Road (LE16 7RA). It costs £1.50 all day.

The Foxton Locks Trail is mostly on the level but there are one or two steeper paths. The Trail is suitable for pushchairs, but the tow paths and cross country paths maybe slippery when muddy and wet, so wearing wellies or good walking boots is recommended. The tow paths and cross country paths would be difficult to manage in muddy conditions in a wheelchair.
