Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal is a magnificent World Heritage Site that encompasses over 800 years of British heritage.

With an Elizabethan mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country you'll never be short of places to explore. Join our 'It's a Monk's Life' tour and dress in a habit while you listen to the tale of the monks who built Fountains Abbey and then watched it destroyed by Henry VIII- perfect for kids studying the Tudors.

Check out our activities for kids during the school holidays, they'll love events like Father's Day bird box making, medieval re-enactment days, children's open air theatre, wildlife trails plus much more.

We also have a fantastic kid's playground on site as well as a drop in learning centre and Porter's Lodge our new interpretation centre.

At Studley Gtaes there is a tea room serving sandwiches and cakes and an ice cream kiosk by the abbey.

There are disabled toilets and changing facilities on site.

There is a milk warmer available, a baby food warmer and a microwave. There are also kids portions available.

Fountains Abbey is buggy friendly though on a wet day make sure you bring wellies.

There is a wheelchair route around the grounds though access to Fountains Hall is limited.
