Fair Isle is Britain’s most remote inhabited island, situated 25 miles south of Shetland and 25 miles north of Orkney.
During the Summer it is easily accessible daily by boat or by plane. Air travel between Shetland Mainland and Fair Isle operated by Direct Flight: 01595 840246. For information on arriving by sea you can call Mr or Mrs Thomson (who run the ferry) on 01595 760363, but be prepared for an early start!
They offer great accommodation at the observatory if you fancy stopping over to make the most of this little gem of an island.
