Edinburgh Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo is the largest and most exciting wildlife attraction in Scotland, committed to the highest standards of animal welfare, education and conservation. In just one day you can meet over 1000 wonderful animals in this beautiful parkland on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
There are also a wide range of exciting visitor experiences, from a free Hilltop Safari ride, free animal-handling sessions to witnessing the world famous Penguin Parade! There are also numerous children's play areas, restaurants, picnic areas, and masses of events and activities throughout the year!
There are two large self-service cafeterias called Oasis and Stripes which offer a wide range of substantial meals, and the Oasis restaurant also has a soft-play area for young children. For more formal dining there is the Mansion House which offers full waiter service offering you the chance to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch in a relaxing atmosphere. There are also numerous ice-cream kiosks and drink/snack machines located around the park.
For visitors with special dietary requirement we offer healthy meal options and for those with allergies, we take care to mark all items which may contain nuts, but if you have any doubts, please consult one of our catering assistants, who'll be happy to advise you.
We have an extensive soft animal toy collection and everything from jewellery, clothing, confectionary through to an environmentally sustainable range of beautiful gifts from Fair Trade
There are toilets located in the restaurants and throughout the park and disabled toilets and baby changing facilities and are available in most of these. There is also a colourful family toilet by the entrance to the Zoo.
Both our cafeterias offer branded baby food, and there are facilities to heat up bottles or jars. High chairs are available in all our cafeterias and restaurants.
Edinburgh Zoo, located on Corstorphine Road, to the west of Edinburgh city is well serviced by public transport. With bus stops located directly outside the Zoo, it makes it easily accessible by the following buses – 12, 26, 31, X48, Airlink and Citylink.
Edinburgh Zoo is on a leafy hillside so we recommend taking advantage of the free scenic Hilltop Safari tour to the hilltop for beautiful views of not only our animals but also the city of Edinburgh!
If you've had fun on your family day out to Edinburgh Zoo, tell us about it your visit, so other people will know it's a great place to go as well.
