It has long held the reputation of being for the discerning visitor, offering good standards and many local facilities including cafes, lost child centre, first aid post, toilets with baby changing etc., showers, pier and bandstand.
There is both pay and free parking along the sea front.
There are a variety of water sports and good swimming spots available and there is lifeguard cover June to September. North east of the pier there's Princes park with putting and bowling greens, playgrounds, a model boating lake and ornamental gardens.
