Durham Climbing Centre offers a full day experience in indoor rock climbing suitable for the whole family!
Scale the heights of the junior climbing wall then show off your skills in the advanced climbing arena! Challenge each other to a game of twister using the climbing wall colours or take part in the junior obstacle course!

Rock Stars children's lessons are available for juniors aged 3 to 16.

Complete with instruction and equipment these are a fun way for children to learn skills and techniques in rock climbing.

Drop in anytime for a session and supervise children yourself from the comfort of our Coffee Lounge or pre-book a Rock Star's Children's lesson or Family Taster Session with instruction in advance then climb on all day at your leisure. Stay for a bite to eat in our Rock Hard Cafe.

Children's lessons run every Tuesday and Thursday evening, Saturday and Sunday mornings and school holidays.

Durham Climbing Centre has lots to offer children and families including free parking, baby change facilities, toilets, changing rooms, café serving a range of hot and cold snacks including paninis, soup, toasties and sandwiches, hot and cold drinks served in our coffee lounge. Spectator seating areas, free table tennis.

When visiting Durham Climbing Centre, grab a light hot or cold bite from the Rock Hard Café. Parents can enjoy a speciality coffee or tea. Hot chocolate and cold drinks available.

Continue out of Durham Town Centre on the A690 towards Crook. Follow signs for Meadowfield Industrial Estate. Turn left onto St John's Road (Opposite Meadowfield Sports Centre) then first right. Durham Climbing Centre is approx 2.5 miles from Durham City Centre. Bus 49 from Durham passes the centre every ten minutes.

Visit the centre after school for off peak admission, bank holidays are always family days at the centre, bring a hoody sometimes the advanced climbing area can feel cool until you warm up! The coffee lounge area is warmer. Disabled access into Junior Climbing Area only. Please phone for details.
