Dartmoor Treasure Trail
Dartmoor Treasure Trail is a multi award-winning treasure hunt activity and is a fantastic way to explore a town or village whilst enjoying a fun walk in the fresh air.
Children love competing to solve the clues and don’t even realise they are learning about the area whilst getting some healthy exercise at the same time!
The answers to the clues are located on existing features such monuments, memorials, plaques and buildings. Some are easy to find, others are a little bit trickier! You can choose to help solve a mystery, go on a treasure hunt or crack the code to save the world in a spy mission!
After you have completed the Trail you can enter your answer online to check whether you’ve got it right!
Voted the Best Tourism Activity in Devon in 2010!
There are many restaurants, cafes and pubs along the Dartmoor Trail route giving you lots of choice for eating and drinking.
The Trails are also available at the Visitor Information Centres throughout Dartmoor, where you can also pick up souvenirs of your visit.
There are public toilets along the route with baby changing facilities.
The Dartmoor Treasure Trail starts at Tavistock in West Devon and takes you right across Dartmoor from west to east, via the High Moorland, Princetown, Two Bridges, Postbridge, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Chagford, Moretonhampstead and finishes at Lustleigh. There are several stops along the Trail where you get out of your car and walk around that area looking for answers to clues.
The Dartmoor Treasure Trail can be downloaded and printed at home or ordered as a booklet to be posted from the Treasure Trails website. Going on holiday? Why not order a couple of Trails before you go, or see where you can buy them locally? You’ll have lots of fun and will see a lot more of the local area. Trails are buggy friendly. Most of our Treasure Trails are suitable for wheelchairs users; please check our website for more details.
