Dalkeith Country Park
As you stroll beneath the oaks in the rambling Dalkeith Country Park, you may find it difficult to believe you are only five miles from the centre of Scotland’s capital city.
There’s a reason that Dalkeith Country Park is one of the region’s most popular country parks, actually, there are dozens.
Here you’ll find walking routes along woodland paths, space to cycle in peace, and plenty to keep energetic kids amused.
2014 marks a new generation for Dalkeith Country Park as work begins on our development project. Over the next year visitors will see the stableyard transformed in to a family hub full of activities, food and drink and fun. It will also see the introduction of a brand new adventure playground, which we are confident will thrill our young visitors!
Please note the adventure playground is currently closed!
You can enjoy a whole range of events at Dalkeith Country Park. What’s on depends on what time you visit, with activities changing almost as fast as the seasons.
We have a programme of Ranger led activities for all ages, you can come on one of our many walks guided by experts and see nature up close and personal – whatever your idea of fun, you’ll discover something new to try. And because the events change constantly there will be something different happening every time you visit.

We do strongly suggest you contact Dalkeith Country Park before you set off on your family day out, just to make sure they are open and to confirm admission prices, as there is nothing worse than disappointed kids in the back of your car after a long journey.

Dalkeith Country Park is developing a new retail area in the Stableyard due to be ready in summer 2015. Until then there are no refreshments available onsite.
