About Cruachan Hollow Mountain
The Ben Cruachan Hollow Mountain houses the Cruachan Power Station, nearly a solid kilometre under the ground! You could literally fit the Tower of London into the biggest room down there, and you can watch the enormous turbines turning water power into electricity: fascinating and impressive!
The Visitor Centre exhibitions include Touch Screen displays so kids can get their hands on element, and depending on your age group and their interests you can either explore the power station's history galleries or hit the technical side and see accessible displays on how the whole thing works. Cool!
Even better you can take a guided tour which will give you all the information and show you all the important bits: these are very popular and should be pre booked. There is also a gift shop and a refreshment area, then the surrounding Loch Awe offers pleasing wildlife and walks with the potential to spot eagles, osprey and red kites.
