Attraction Information
Criccieth Castle, standing on its headland between 2 beaches, is a prominent North Wales landmark. It is also a landmark historic site, one of those rare castles with a foot firmly in both camps and a true testament to the varying fortunes of war.
Criccieth's history is deeply entwined in the medieval conflict between Wales and England and there are plenty of stories about the place and how frequently it changed hands scattered amongst the information boards on site. The castle is very much a ruin so don't go along expecting grand halls and spiralling staircases, this is one that requires a bit of imagination from the kids!
There are some award winning beaches nearby as well as more attractions for the family a little further afield, so why not make this one stop amongst many and fill your day with loveliness from the listings?!
