Crarae Gardens
Crarae Gardens
Near the banks of Loch Fyne, on the west coast, immerse yourself in Britain's finest example of an exotic Himalayan-style woodland garden.
The informal hillside layout of mature woody plants radiating out from the burn creates a wondeful natural effect.
It is a magical spot at any time of year, with the earlier flowers of countless rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and magnolias being replaced later in the season by the rich tints of foliage and fruit.
You may be fortunate enough to see deer with fawns; you will almost certainly see a huge variety of birds, including treecreepers, ravens, woodpeckers, dippers and birds of prey such as buzzards, sparrowhawks and peregrine falcons, which nest nearby.
If you've had fun on your family day out to Crarae Gardens, tell us about it your visit, so other people will know it's a great place to go as well.
