Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park
There's so much to see and do.
Watch our awesome lions and wolves. Catch our otters feeding, monkeys playing and penguins swimming. Have a close encounter with a lemur or a meercat. Feed a wallaby! Watch a falconry display, take part in the amazing sea lion show or experience our exhilarating train ride.
Come and witness conservation in action - we're involved in a number of worldwide breeding programs and in saving several endangered species. We frequently rescue and re-home animals and lend a hand protecting, for example, the Goeldis Monkey and the Red Ruffed Lemur.
But make sure you keep an eye out for the dinosaurs! Lurking within the park there are life size dinosaur models. Face up to our animatronic 18ft high, 40ft long Tyrannosaurus Rex, our lively Velociraptor and 'Spitting' Dilophosaurus, the huge Triceratops and various other terrifying fossils! In our museum you can witness close up, one of the world's largest nests of genuine, ancient and very rare dinosaur eggs!
For this and much more – come and spend a day of adventure in our extraordinary park!
Cafe, ice cream outlets, drink machines and picnic areas.
General gifts and souvenirs.
Disabled cubicle inside Ladies, baby changing facilities inside both male and female toilets.
There is a microwave in the cafe to heat baby food and milk.
Take the M5 to junction 27. Go west along the A361 towards Barnstaple. Turn right onto the A399, and then follow the signs for Combe Martin and Ilfracombe.
Unfortunately the terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs, due to the steep hills. Buggies are fine, but it does take a bit of extra muscle!
Always good day out even if the british weather is a bit poor. not many places to shelter but if you're prep'd its okay. cafe is reasonable value for a park, car parking is good too, when we went once it was very busy and they were offering a driver shuttle to the top car parks so you could drive down and collect your family near the entrance. the walks through the enclosures are good, an entertaining sea lion show is also held and there are a few 'rides' included.
There is also the 'spectacular' train ride with the sfx but this is a chareable ride. good kids area, with the attractions operated by tokens. the animals are all within easy viewing for kids. the butterfly house is great for all bug fans as they have landed on my daughter a few times much to her delight.
It is also the home of shaun ellis aka wolfman, he does a wolf-talk on most days unless he is off site helping other wolf packs. amazing that you can get within 2-3 feet of a wolf. well worth a visit to the wolf area. you can arrange other wolf related stuff from their visitor centre. Overall well worth driving a bit out of the way, even if it is just to see that red ridinghood was wrong after all.
