Cholmondeley Castle Gardens
Cholmondeley Castle
A short walk from the very popular Tea Room (producing a variety of food) takes you to the stables and paddocks, where you will see the farm animals.
Young and old alike are entertained by African pygmy goats climbing up and down the circular steps of the goat tower, Shetland ponies, varieties of sheep, pigs and the famous Longhorn Cattle, inquisitive llamas and their more recent addition a group of alpacas.
The Nature Trail is a lovely walk for visitors that was improved in 2002 with the aim of providing a free environmental facility for schools and people with special needs. The Deer Park Mere has an extensive bird and waterfowl population.
The Wildlife is monitored and recorded with the help of Nantwich Natural History Society, who are also involved in the continuing programme to improve this lakeside area. Hard walkways help wheelchair access to parts of this beautiful area. (It is advisable to wear appropriate footwear as walkways can flood in bad weather).
There is also an children's playground and picnic facilities on this site.
