Find the location of the ‘hidden treasure’ with the Castle Douglas Treasure Trail.

Children will love competing to solve the clues and won't even realise they are learning about the area and getting some exercise.

The answers to the clues are located on monuments, buildings and structures along the route: some are easy to find, some are a little bit trickier!

After you have completed the Trail you can enter your answer online to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize!

Known as The Food Town, there is a great variety of places to eat and drink along the Castle Douglas Treasure Trail route.

There are public toilets at the Markethill car park at the beginning and end of the Trail as well as half way round the Trail route at Carlingwark Loch.

The Trail starts at the Visitor Information Centre at Market Hill car park on the A713, in the town centre. There is plenty of free parking in this car park. There are several bus routes in Castle Douglas.

There are no steps or uneven pathways included in the route making it suitable for wheelchair and pushchair users.
