Cardoness Castle

"what are we doing today?"

Cardoness Castle

Highlights include:
The tower house: a well-preserved example of a 15th-century Scottish nobleman’s residence.
The hall in the tower: with fine architectural features, including the splendid fireplace and wall-cupboard where the family’s best silverware was displayed.
The views from the battlements: looking south over the Water of Fleet to the Solway Firth beyond.
We haven't recommended it for toddlers because of the enormous quantity of close quarter stairs.
