Cardiff Castle

"what are we doing today?"

For 2000 years, Cardiff Castle has been home to some very exciting people, including the Romans, Normans and Victorians.

Explore the Castle grounds with an audio guide especially put together for children and find out about who was kept prisoner inside the Norman Keep and how they kept their enemies out.

The Wartime Tunnels are great to explore and see the original wall built by the Romans. Inside the Main House, follow the animal trail and discover all the little secrets left by William Burges, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled! Why not try on soldiers uniforms and feel how heavy muskets were in Firing Line: Cardiff Castle Museum of the Welsh Soldier.

There are also many special events taking place all year. Whether it’s watching The Knight’s of Royal England perform daredevil riding stunts and amazing combat skills in ‘Joust!’ or discovering the everyday life of Romans in their encampment as well as seeing legionary soldiers demonstrate fighting techniques and battle strategies in ‘The Romans Return’, there is something for everyone at Cardiff Castle.

"i'm hungry"

"i need a wee"

and baby come too...
