About

Canterbury Historic River Tours
If you've got even a glimmer a sunshine then it's excuse enough to head for the water in our book: so any time you've got it from March through October why not treat the family to a charming river jaunt? While peaceful in theory it will still captivate passengers of all ages by passing under dramatic river-spanning features such as the country's oldest Franciscan Chapel, the King's Bridge and the Dominican Priories, providing views denied to landlubbers!
For your money the 40 minute round trip will gently whisk you past (and under, often!) a good 14 significant features including plenty of cool 12th and 13th century architecture, so with the informed and pleasant commentary of the boat chauffeur the whole family can relax, enjoy the sights and learn some interesting facts as you pass.

Calm and comfortable, this is the kind of adventure even nan will want in on!
The full list of notable features (so you know when to have your camera handy!) in order of encounter are: King's Bridge; Eastbridge Hospital; Franciscan Island; Greyfriars Chapel; Old Weavers House; King's Mill; Alchemist Tower; Cromwellian Forge; Friar's Bridge; Blackfriars; Dominican Priories; The Abbot's Mill ; The Marlowe Theatre and The Ducking Stool.
It's worth a mention that The Ducking Stool was, in times gone by (Ye Olde ones), used to punish and publically shame "nagging wives" and less frequently but much more severely to torture witches! So given that nan will have to behave, that's granddad up for this one too!
