About Caithness Glass & Crieff Visitor Centre
Crieff Visitor Centre provides a fascinating insight into the hardships and history of ancient Scottish life. A Time Line depicts the stirring and interesting life and times of Crieff and how this was influenced by the relevant history of Scotland during the same period.
Caithness Glass, based at The Crieff Visitor Centre, has established a proud tradition of fine glass making since 1961 and is still a world leader today in the design and production of groundbreaking abstract glass paperweights, and when you visit their glass factory you and the kids will have the chance to see it for yourselves!
This is a unique opportunity to see Caithness Glass being hand crafted by a team of skilled craftspeople close up in a studio environment and admission to the factory viewing gallery is free!
After watching the glass makers in action, you can buy some Caithness Glass for yourself, or explore your creative side and paint your own glass or plate! Glass painting is great fun for all ages, you just need to select a glass and paint your own design in their special painting area.
Craft loving older kids and adults may also want to try their hand at making their own paperweight, which involves working alongside one of the skilled glass makers, making your paperweight and having it inscribed. It only takes about 20 or 30 minutes to make, but the paperweight will need time to cool before being inscribed, so it will not be available to collect for 2 working days.
