Bridgnorth Cliff Railway
About Bridgnorth Cliff Railway
For over 100 years now Bridgnorth Cliff Railway has been transporting the fine people of Bridgnorth up and down the 111ft sandstone cliffs which separate the High Town from the Low Town, and both from the River Severn. It is despite its vintage nature a working railway; its usefulness to the town is far from diminished by its age. It's a pleasing and slightly unusual little trip for those who like a bit of chuff stuff! Technically speaking it's the UK's oldest and steepest inland electric funicular railway, so you get bragging rights if you're a proper trainspotter!
