Bowness on Windermere Treasure Hunt

"what are we doing today?"

Bowness on Windermere Walking Treasure Hunt Trail

Treasure Trails' treasure hunts are a fantastic way to explore a new town or village whilst enjoying a fun walk in the fresh air.

Children love competing to solve the clues and don't even realise they are learning about the area and getting some exercise!

The answers to the clues are located on existing monuments, buildings and structures – some are easy to find, some are a little bit trickier! You can choose to solve a mystery, go on a treasure hunt or crack the code to save the world in a spy mission.

After you have completed the Trail you can enter your answer online to be in with a chance of winning a cash prize!

The Trail starts at the Visitor Information Centre at the Glebe, close to the Piers at Bowness lakeside. Parking can be found on the Glebe, this is Pay and Display.

Most of our Trails are suitable for wheelchairs; please check our website for more details. Unfortunately the Bowness Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs.

"i'm hungry"

There are many restaurants, cafes and pubs in Bowness. The Trail route starts and finishes where there is a great choice for eating and drinking. Picnics can be enjoyed on the Glebe.

"i need a wee"

There are public toilets along the route with baby changing facilities.

"are we there yet?"

Leave the M6 at Junction 39, take the first exit the A591. Remain on the A591for approx 12 miles, until reaching Windermere Town, turn left onto A5074, follow this through Windermere and then into Bowness, at the mini-roundabout , turn left onto A592 in the direction of Newby Bridge. Pass the piers then turn right on to the Glebe.

...got any top tips?

Trails take around two hours to complete and can be downloaded and printed at home or ordered as a booklet to be posted from the Treasure Trails website. Going on holiday? Why not order a couple of Trails before you go? You'll have lots of fun and will see a lot more of the local area.
