Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings

"what are we doing today?"

Avoncroft was the first open-air museum in England when we opened back in the 1960s.

Today, we are still a vibrant outdoor museum of buildings in rural Worcestershire with a full and varied family events programme that runs all year round.

Children and adults alike will love being out-and-about in our natural setting, investigating our orchard, pond and, new for 2009, our wildflower meadow. Our collection of buildings provides a unique and all-encompassing look at over 700 years of English history, so there is something for everyone to be fascinated by. From our 1950s prefab to our Medieval Merchant's House, from our windmill to the TARDIS in our interactive National Telephone Kiosk Collection, there's a new experience around every corner.

"i'm hungry"

Our new tea room opens in March 2009, serving light meals, cakes and drinks. Ice creams are available from our shop, and we have multiple picnic areas on site.

"Can I have one of those?"

Our shop sells a wide range of Avoncroft-related products, including activity books, cuddly toys and pocket-money priced souvenirs for children.

"i need a wee"

Male, female and disabled toilets available.

"are we there yet?"

Avoncroft is just off the A38 in Bromsgrove. Brown signs point the way from the M42 J1, M5 J4 and M5 J5; follow the windmill signs. The museum is a short walk from Bromsgrove train station.
