Armagh Planetarium
Armagh, County ArmaghAbout Armagh Planetarium
At Armagh Planetarium, the whole family can use interactive displays to learn about the cosmos and watch the latest space news in real time. Activities include designing, building and launching your own rocket! A number of other craft activities are available, including Cosmic Balloons on Saturday mornings.
The Armagh Celestial Cathedral is a beautiful gallery of illuminated deep space images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope framed in dramatic gothic arches.
One key attraction of Armagh Planetarium is the newly refurbished Digital Theatre that now offers a brilliant visual and audio experience of their shows. Purpose built reclining seats will allow you and the kids to fully experience the amazing 3D projection over the entire dome. Check online before your visit for details of shows and times, especially with smalls as they offer a specific session for the young ins with no periods of prolonged darkness involved so they can enjoy without getting nervous!
The fun doesn't stop when you get outside as there is the Astropark to explore, a landscape dotted with stainless steel models of the planets that make up a scale model of the Universe. Walk through the Solar System, into the Milky Way and beyond as you marvel at how small earth is compared to other planets, and how small everything is compared with the sun. A cosmic day out!
