Amberley Working Museum
Amberley Working Museum is a 36 acre open air museum dedicated to the industrial heritage of the south east, with a number of great exhibitions, crafts, nature trails, and more for all ages to enjoy.
Staffed largely by volunteers, the museum contains a wide range of exhibits, ranging from industry based collections, such as the Print Workshop and Wheelwrights, to vintage transport collection, including the village garage and the Southdown bus collection.
There is also a narrow gauge train running round the site.
An early years Ladybird Backpack Trail is available, that is aimed at visitors aged 18 months to 5 years, and is full of equipment and fun challenges to help you discover the hidden treasures of Amberley as you explore the museum! Print your own picture, hunt for bugs, learn how cat’s eyes work, and much more. Keep an eye out for the Amberley Ladybird as you go round, you can visit as many or as few of the stops as you like, in any order. The Trail costs £3.99 per backpack, plus a £10 deposit that is refunded on the return of the backpack and its contents.
Amberley Museum is also home to a number of resident crafts people, who still work to traditional methods. These include a blacksmith, potter, broom maker, wood turners, and even a stick maker (walking sticks!).
