Alice Holt Forest Woodland Park

"what are we doing today?"

There's so much to do! You can walk, cycle, play or just have a picnic in these lovely woods.

Experience life in the trees with Go Ape, take a relaxing break in our cafe and finish your visit with a quiet stroll in one of the more remote parts of the forest.
There are walking trails of various lenghts and the Habitat Trail, a family walk with giant play sculptures.
There is a 3D maze and two play areas on site.

Playwood is located near the Cafe and is suitable for younger children. Timberline Play area is at the back of Timberline Meadow, close to a Go Ape course with swings, tunnels and walkways through the trees.
There is a Family Cycle Trail on site and cycle hire and repairs through Quench Cycles.

"i'm hungry"

The Cafe on the Green provides a fabulous array of freshly prepared food, hot and cold drinks and ice cream. The Cafe is located in the forest centre, close to the car parks, facilities and Playwood.

"are we there yet?"

From the A31 turn off at Farnham onto the A325. Stay on the A325 for approximately 3 miles. From Portsmouth and Petersfield take the A325 towards Farnham. At the Halfway House Pub on the A325 turn off the main road following signs for Alice Holt Forest. The entrance is 300 yards along this road on the left. The nearest station is at Bentley. From here you can walk through Alice Holt Forest to the forest centre along public rights of way. Alternatively take the train to Farnham and catch a bus to Bucks Horn Oak. Stagecoach number 18 runs from Farnham Station to Bucks Horn Oak, stopping at the Halfway House Pub on the A325. It is just a short walk from here to the forest. For satnav users, the postcode is GU10 4LS.

...got any top tips?

Pop into the cafe on site to pick up a map, then plan your visit from there. Why not walk the Lodge Pond Trail? (marked with blue footprints). It is a more off-road trail, which takes in the centre of the forest and leads to Lodge Pond. The trail can get muddy! We recommend you book Go Ape and cycle hire in advance during busy times.

Visitor Reviews

The uninspiring website really does it no justice at all a FANTASTIC location with something for all the family well worth a drive for a day out either take a picnic or buy something from the little coffee shop but do bear in mind this is an Outdoors venue! It is worth checking out the website though as there are various events on during the year. If you fancy a cycle you can hire them on site (including those buggy things for little ones) or bring your own, my 2.5year old manages his tricycle round the habitat trail (a woodland walk with animal sculptures perfect for climbing on or in or through or over!) so I would imagine its accessible for most sizes of Children's bikes. They have longer bike trails too that we've not explored yet. Two superb play areas aimed at (and challenging) different age ranges plus the 3-D Maze provide parents with an opportunity to catch their breath. Lots of well marked routes (maps available from the information centre) of varying lengths through some well managed beautiful ancient forest. For the larger more adventurous there is also a "Go Ape" centre at Alice Holt for those over 10 with a head for heights!
