About Aillwee Cave

One of the oldest caves in Ireland, Aillwee Cave was formed by the erosive power of glacial melt waters of an early ice age that created a river running deep underneath Aillwee mountain. The river has subsided leaving behind one of Ireland's most stunning caves ready for you to explore!

A guided tour will take you through the large caverns and illuminated tunnels, over bridges and passed waterfalls. Special events are held here at Christmas and Easter.
