Attraction Information
A nice way to key up the kids for Abington Museum is to mention the Victorian Cabinet of Curiosities… the very name is magnetic to children! They can't tell you more, it's too mysterious!
This is a free public museum great for an educational stop whilst in the area, which mainly comprises displays on the Northamptonshire Regiment and Yeomanry, with displays also depicting traditional life in the area for fun little insights into history. It's also interesting that this building was once the home of Shakespeare's granddaughter!
The 19th Century Fashion Gallery is exactly what it says on the tin and will be of interest to kids with a thing for textiles. There are also huge collections of both modern and vintage leather works from all around the world including some really interesting costumes! Be prepared to get out the paper and tape when you get home, the teddies are probably getting new outfits this evening!
And once you're outside you've got the trim trail in the park around it: from cross trainers to air walkers and hip twisters, the park contains a nice little line of 8 pieces of fitness apparatus for you and yours to try out and enjoy.
