About Chatsworth

Chatsworth is a place to learn, explore and create in the heart of the Peak District. With a Grade I listed house and stables, a 105-acre garden, a farmyard and adventure playground, and more than 1800 acres of parkland and historic woodland that is free for all to access and enjoy all year round, there's something for all ages.

Chatsworth has been the home of the Devonshire family since the 1550s and is now cared for by Chatsworth House Trust, a registered charity established in 1981. All income from admissions, Gift Aid, membership, sponsorship and donations goes directly to the charity to be reinvested in the conservation and improvement of Chatsworth for everyone, and in an annual programme of events, exhibitions, learning and community outreach.

NEWLY Reopened Adventure Playground

Let loose on the newly opened woodland playground!

Climb the tall towers for a bird's eye view, descend at speed on our racing slides, scramble across the wood tangle, zip on the zip wire, dig in the giant sand pit or use an Archimedes screw to fetch water from the stream...there are hours of adventures in store.

Discover The Farmyard and Meet Farmyard Friends

In the farmyard you can meet our friendly animals, from pigs and horses to mischievous goats and guinea pigs, many of whom you can feed, pet or even cuddle.

We're also delighted to be home to a number of rare breeds including Suffolk Punch horses, Shire horses, Albion cattle, Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, Golden Guernsey goats, Derbyshire Red Cap chickens and more. From the farmyard, take the secret tunnel to the woodland playground for exciting adventures.

Make Unforgettable Family Memories

Discover the art and history of the house, explore the garden, meet the animals in the farmyard, roam the park and woodland, or dine on a meal made with locally sourced seasonal produce in one of our restaurants, we always look forward to welcoming you.

We also offer a range of talks, tours, and workshops themed around gardening, history, textiles, conservation, rural skills, and creative pastimes, offering the opportunity to learn something new during your time with us.
